FOX News Must Fire Bill Shine
The Network’s Co-President Helped Cover Up Decades of Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Bill O’Reilly and Roger Ailes
Even though it was a termination years overdue, Fox News made the right call when it fired Bill O’Reilly in April, after it was revealed that the top Fox anchor had faced, and covered up, numerous allegations of sexual harassment. However, even with O’Reilly ousted, the culture of condoned sexual harassment, racism, and misogyny will prevail at Fox if more enablers are not fired. Case in point: Fox News Co-President Bill Shine knew about, and helped cover up, multiple sexual harassment cases against former Fox CEO Roger Ailes, and Bill O’Reilly.
As of April 4, 13 black Fox employees (current and past) were in the process of suing Fox News for condoning years of racial discrimination and an abusive work environment. Who do the plaintiffs allege knew about, and did nothing to stop, the blatant racial discrimination? Bill Shine.
O’Reilly is not out because Fox News stopped condoning sexual harassment and blatant racism – O’Reilly is out because of YOU: the survivors who spoke out, the women and men who came forward to protest, the advocates who organized and the advertisers who fled. He’s out because the settlements were made public. We must keep the pressure on and tell Fox to fire Bill Shine — anyone who knew about sexual harassment and racial discrimination at Fox, and helped cover up such behavior, MUST go.
Tell 21st Century Fox Board of Directors to end the rampant culture of sexual harassment and racial discrimination.
1) Write a letter to the Board of Directors to tell them that firing Bill O’Reilly isn’t enough – they need to address the sexist culture that is perpetuated by Fox News:
Executive Chairman Rupert Murdoch and Members of the Board of Directors
21st Century Fox
1211 6th Avenue
New York, NY 10036
2) Tweet @FoxNews to let them know this type of behavior will not be tolerated anymore and let them see how many women are calling them out:
.@Fox News will you hold your other news anchors accountable for their blatant sexism? http://bit.ly/29ynhHU
Bill O’Reilly may be gone, but @FoxNews needs to address the culture of sexual harassment they’ve maintained for decades.
3) Call the Fox News number to leave a comment:
Share Your Story: Bill O’Reilly may be gone, but Fox News has done nothing to address the culture they have perpetuated that protects abusers and shames victims of sexual harassment.
According to a study, 1 in 3 women have been sexually harassed at work. We are collecting stories to demonstrate the epidemic of sexual harassment, and to raise our voices to fight back.
