Keep Families Together: Call Congress to Stop Separation of Children and Parents
Just one month after Jeff Sessions’ “zero tolerance policy,” over 2,300 immigrant children seeking asylum have been separated from their families. Breastfeeding infants have even been taken from their mother’s arms.
Immigration authorities are detaining these children in mass shelters, only allowing them outside for about two hours a day. Some are literally being held in cages. Some are as young as 18 months old.
Sessions’ policy and the acts of I.C.E. are irreversibly traumatizing children by separating them from their parents at the border.
This cruel treatment by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) at the US-Mexico border is a violation of US and international human rights law, We are seeing growing outrage over this administration’s policy.
We must act NOW to stop this inhumane treatment!
Your voice can help put an end to the DHS’s cruel and needless practice of tearing apart immigrant families. DHS has responded to pressure in the past. Now we need to make sure our members of Congress take action to end this cruel practice once and for all.
