Meet Sydney Ireland; Introducing Young Women to All Levels of Scouting #ScoutHerIn
Sydney Ireland is determined to be an Eagle Scout, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America. This esteemed badge has only ever been given to young men.
“I am 16 and have been an unofficial member of the Boy Scouts for 12 years. I tagged along with my older brother, wearing the same uniforms, earning badges and learning to camp along with the other boys. The only difference between me and my brother is that, as a girl, I am not eligible for official membership or recognition in the Boy Scouts.”
The Boy Scouts of America has decided to welcome women as official members starting in February of 2019. Under this timeline Sydney will age out of the Boy Scouts before she can realize her dream. We can’t let Sydney fall through the cracks.

Take action and email Boy Scouts of America Chief Scout Executive Michael Surbaugh, telling him that young women like Sydney should be allowed to join the Boy Scouts NOW.
