Stop Trump’s Immigration and Refugee Ban
Last week, Trump signed an executive order denying entry to immigrants from seven Muslim-majority countries, and banning all refugees from entering the United States. In particular, President Trump called out refugees from Syria, stating, “I hereby proclaim that the entry of nationals of Syria as refugees is detrimental to the interests of the United States.” It’s time for a reality check: the majority of Syrian refugees are women and children under the age of 14. They’re mothers fleeing a war-torn country with their children, and it absolutely must be in the interests of the United States to welcome these families, not shun them. Furthermore, Syrian refugees are highly vetted: they go through a 21-step process that can take up to two years. Trump’s immigration and refugee ban must be stopped.
Read why Trump’s ban is an assault on women and families.
How to Take Action
Call your Senators from New York:
Chuck Schumer: 212-486-4430/202-224-6542
Kirsten Gillibrand: 212-688-6262/202-224-4451
Here’s what you can say:
Hello, my name is_____ and I am a constituent. I’m calling because I strongly oppose Trump’s executive order restricting immigration and refugee entry into the U.S., and I ask that you take immediate action to reverse it. The majority of Syrian refugees are women and children. Trump’s order is both heartless and un-American. Thank you.
