We’re In This Together
I know how you are feeling. Watching our country choose an inexperienced, unprepared man who incites sexism and racism over a deeply qualified and highly prepared woman, has been a painful shock for me. I am committed to not letting disillusionment set in. I ask you to do the same.
As a dear friend and NOW colleague said to our team today: the grief you feel today is a direct reflection of the goodness that is in your heart; of the fact that you reject sexism, bigotry, intolerance and hate and you embrace inclusivity, integrity and empathy. All those who hold those values have just been dealt a blow.
History has faced even darker moments than this, and good people have rallied to turn things back in the right direction. We will do that.
As Hillary Clinton so graciously and aptly said to the nation today, “Never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it.” So many of you reading this have been doing precisely that for too many years to count! I thought about you while I lay awake last night absorbing the election night results. Your unrelenting optimism and stamina is something to marvel at and our NOW community is united today more than ever before.
With deep gratitude I thank you for all the endless hours you devoted to Hillary and to NOW. With the same determination, work ethic, caring and commitment Hillary has shown us, we will move forward.
To raise a toast to Hillary and to come together to heal and reflect, we will host an Open House on Monday, November 14th, for our community to talk, unite and channel our energy and anger into hope and progress. Or sign-up to attend our annual state conference on Long Island next weekend.
With love and gratitude to you,
