Victory! Cuomo Signs Women’s Equality Act Bills
Although there is still more work to be done, NOW New York was thrilled to join other activists in celebration as the Governor signed the bills into law.
The new laws will achieve pay equality (S.1 / A.6075), protect victims of sexual harassment (S.2 / A.5360), streamline discrimination justice (S.3 / A.7189), prohibit family status discrimination (S.4 / A.7317), protect domestic violence victims by prohibiting housing discrimination (S.5 / A.6354-B) and bolstering order-of-protection laws (S.6 / A.6262), strengthen human trafficking laws (S.7 / A.506), and protect women from pregnancy discrimination (S.8 / A.4272).
Thank you to our members and volunteers for working with us to secure these vital advances for the women and girls of New York.
