Stop Pregnancy Discrimination
Support Reasonable Accommodations for Pregnant Workers:
Pregnant women should not have to choose between their jobs and a healthy pregnancy. 75% of women in the workforce will be pregnant at some point, yet many pregnant women are forced to take unpaid leave, or are even fired, after requesting a modest accomodation like a chair or an extra bathroom break.
Victory in New York City!
The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (Int. 0974-2012), introduced by City Council Member James Vacca in November 2012, would make accommodations for pregnant workers. The bill was signed into law by Mayor Bloomberg in October, 2013 and took effect on January 30, 2014.
