One Click Away, a new piece by playwright Katie Cappiello, explores the cruel reality of the global sex trade through the stories of those who have experienced online exploitation.
Join World Without Exploitation and its allies for a unique public performance, followed by a moderated discussion about the legal and social reforms – including passage of the Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act (SESTA) – that are necessary to end online exploitation. The panel discussion will be moderated by Lauren Hersh, national director of World Without Exploitation, and feature Katie Cappiello, One Click Away playwright, and survivors Marian Hatcher, senior project manager and human trafficking coordinator at the Cook County Sheriff’s office, Marlene Carson, CEO of The Switch Anti-Trafficking Network, and Nikki Bell, founder and director of Living in Freedom Together (LIFT). A cocktail reception will follow the panel.
This event is a side event for the U.N.’s Commission on the Status of Women and is free and open to the public.
