Take Action – Stop Separating Families

The Department of Homeland Security is considering a proposal that would separate mothers from their children at the Mexican border as a way to “deter” border crossings. Instead of keeping families fleeing from violence and hardship together, this policy would place parents in detention centers and children in protective custody. If implemented, the policy could impact tens of thousands of families and cause lasting trauma to these children.

Call your Senators and your Congressmember to stop the inhumane treatment of migrants.

Get the Lowdown, Trump Week #7:

  • Trump’s Joint Session speech was not normal – no matter what the media wants you to believe. Reading a teleprompter cannot be the low bar we set for acting “presidential.” We know that what Trump says and does are two different things, and right now he has demonstrated he is not concerned with the well-being of women, people of color, immigrants, and the LGBTQ community.
  • Legislators across the country and trying – and succeeding – in passing laws that would make it near impossible to peacefully protest without being arrested or fined.
  • Jeff Sessions is not a friend to women – or frankly anyone is interested in maintaining their civil rights. Sessions has voted against the Violence Against Women Act and is anti-choice. Since taking office, Sessions has rolled back trans rights, and now…he may have committed perjury.
    • Jeff Sessions lied about meeting with Russian officials (under oath!) and Mike Pence used his private email for government affairs – how long should we wait for the “lock them up” chants?

Need a Laugh?

  • Trevor Noah shows that Trump’s Joint Session was all a “Presidential act” – fake it till you make it.
