Voters Elect First Woman of Color to City-Wide Office
NEW YORK – Leticia “Tish” James wins Public Advocate run-off by a wide margin on election night.
“Letitia James is a councilmember who wasn’t afraid to stand up to Michael Bloomberg and that was the winning formula this election season,” said Sonia Ossorio, President of the National Organization for Women in New York City.
NOW-NYC’s Political Action Team was out in full force for James in the Public Advocate race. Our members campaigned throughout the five boroughs on behalf of Letitia James.
“The power center of government should not be all white and all male,” Ossorio said. “The voters saw to that tonight.”
