Alert: Zika Is A Risk In NYC
According to the NYC Department of Health, 1,000 New Yorkers have tested positive for the Zika virus, including 402 pregnant women. Zika virus is especially dangerous for pregnant women, because it can cause affected babies to be born with microcephaly. People can be infected through mosquito bites in certain areas, but the Zika virus can also be sexually transmitted.
It’s an important reminder to practice safe sex, and to take action against an administration that is seeking to strip women of healthcare. Part of the GOP healthcare plan includes making zika a pre-existing condition.
