Fight Trump’s Domestic Gag Rule: 7/31 Deadline
Today, nearly 90% of US counties are without an abortion provider. Trump’s executive rule, that will ban medical professionals from providing or making referrals for abortion, is a serious threat to women’s reproductive freedom. The 60-day public comment period to block Trump’s domestic gag rule is open until July 31st. Submit your public comment here NOW!
This rule will cut federal funding to clinics offering these services and will impact family planning programs. This is, in effect, a domestic gag rule on abortion.
In her recent OpEd, our president, Sonia Ossorio, writes, “Our fundamental right to reproductive freedom is at stake, and we must take a stand against it. This is not just a woman’s issue.” Muzzling healthcare providers on abortion is unethical and dangerous, especially for the millions of low-income women who rely on clinics funded by federal family planning dollars. Women will not stand for attacks on their healthcare and ability to control their bodies and reproduction, and neither should men.
We should all be concerned.
President Trump’s executive rule is a brazen move to regulate women’s bodies by limiting access to abortion and birth control. This is exactly what women feared when Trump was elected – that he would turn back the clock on women’s rights, and this latest executive rule aimed specifically at our reproductive rights goes straight to women’s fundamental ability to control our destinies. This rule will strip millions of women who rely on these clinics of their ability to set the course of their lives.
The Trump administration is aiming to appease religious conservatives over the lives and health of millions of American women and girls. This stops NOW!
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is currently accepting open comments from the public on this rule.
