Governor Cuomo Officially Calls Senate Back to Vote on Reproductive Health Act
Manhattan, NY – July 17, 2018 – Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and all 31 members of the Senate Democratic Conference led by Andrea Stewart-Cousins today called on Senate Republicans to return to Albany to vote to codify Roe v. Wade into State law and show New Yorkers where they stand.
Here is a statement from Jean Bucaria, Deputy Director, NOW-NYC:
“We cannot allow women’s lives to be put in jeopardy by failing to enshrine the protections of Roe into our New York State law immediately. We demand that our State Senate acts now to assure New York women that the reproductive healthcare we have been relying on for more than forty years is not wiped out with one decision. It would be shameful if our state failed to act now.”
“With Trump on the brink of appointing a second anti-choice Justice to the Supreme Court, the stakes for women and girls could not be any higher. The fundamental rights of women to have control over their bodies and the fate of their lives are at risk.”
NOW New York advocates for the women and girls of New York, by defending reproductive rights, fighting economic inequality, and combating violence & discrimination against women.
