Resist NOW – Week of August 1
DEMOCRATS ARE PAVING THE WAY FOR ANTI-CHOICE CANDIDATES
• “There is not a litmus test for Democratic candidates,” declared Rep. Ben Ray Luján when talking about abortion rights this week in an interview with The Hill. He is the Chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) which fundraises for Democratic candidates for Congress and has made it clear that it is open to anti-choice candidates it sees as “electable” in traditionally red districts.
- Even House Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi recently said that the Democratic Party is not the “rubber stamp” party on abortion.
- This reflects an alarming trend taking root within the party: Democrats are on track to reverse a platform commitment to abortion access and comprehensive reproductive healthcare for women. We know one thing – throwing women under the bus is not a winning strategy.
