"Compromise" on Abortion Coverage Unacceptable

Majority leader Harry Reid's Manager's Amendment, which re-asserts Stupak-like restrictions into the Senate's health care bill passed the Senate just before the end of 2009. NOW-NYC stands firmly against a final health care bill that contains newly imposed restrictions on abortion access.  Contact your Senators and Congresspeople, and ask them to reject toughened abortion restrictions in the final bill NOW!  Learn More

In Remembrance

Lillian Kozak, a NOW leader, member, and friend to our chapter died on November 11, 2009.  NOW-NYC is proud to pay tribute to her and the major contributions she made to advancing women's rights and family justice.  NOW-NYC honored her with a Susan B. Anthony Award in 1982.  Read more about her work and life

Alice Schaerr Rossi, one of the founding board members of the National Organization for Women, died on November 3, 2009 at the age of 87.  Many of her early writings helped form the philosophical underpinning of the women's movement in the late 1960s and 1970s.  Read more about Dr. Rossi
