Jean Bucaria, Deputy Director of NOW-NYC and Women’s Justice NOW since 2007, is a changemaker with heart. She drives the organizations’ actions and advocacy, communications, public education, and volunteer programs. She recently authored and edited SurvivorStoriesNOW.org, an interactive report that amplifies the voices of survivors to defend a strong Violence Against Women Act. Elected as the Executive Vice President of the New York State organization of NOW in 2014, she also acts as a resource for NOW leaders across the state. Jean has a track-record of building and motivating teams of volunteers, developing women’s rights campaigns, and shaping communications that resonate.
Prior to her role at NOW, Jean served as the Director of Program Evaluation at the NYC Leadership Academy where she led the creation of a signature database to track and analyze program progress and oversaw grant reporting for more than two-dozen funders. She holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Baruch’s School of Public Affairs and a B.S. in Biochemistry from Stony Brook University.
