May Nazareno, Development Manager, leads NOW-NYC’s and Women’s Justice NOW’s donor cultivation and fundraising efforts including our annual gala, the Women of Power and Influence Awards. May’s proven track record of increasing unrestricted funds for emerging and established non-profits has guided her work over the last two years at both organizations, where she has trained dozens of feminist activists in fundraising best practices and developed new systems to receive support from first-time donors and foundations.
May’s career began at Stanford University’s Medical School and then continued in the arts, education, social services, and international reproductive health in New York. Her expertise on major gifts, direct mail, and event planning led her to the Population Council, where she assisted in major donor stewardship, launching their inaugural gala, and providing strategy to key leadership. At NOW-NYC and Women’s Justice NOW, May continues to expand the organization’s financial capacity, and is inspired by the collective force of women and men who take meaningful action to create a more just world.
