Call on Speaker Heastie to Pass A.2575
The National Organization for Women – New York City is urging you, members of our community, to act now to end the statute of limitations for sex trafficking in New York State. Survivors of sex trafficking deserve the time and tools to seek justice, and this critical legislation will make it possible.
Why This Matters
This bill eliminates the five-year statute of limitations for sex trafficking and child sex trafficking while introducing a one-year lookback window for survivors to file civil lawsuits. It is vital for ensuring justice for survivors and accountability for perpetrators. The profound trauma, fear, and stigma associated with trafficking often delay survivors from coming forward, making this legislation critical to addressing those barriers.
Survivors of sex trafficking currently lack the same legal protections as rape survivors—which is a stark disparity this bill seeks to address.
The Time to Act Is NOW
We need your help to ensure the New York State Assembly passes this bill. Speaker Carl E. Heastie has the power to bring A.2575 to the floor, and he needs to hear from his constituents.
