The NYPD’s Human Trafficking Squad and Attorney General Letitia James’s Organized Crime Task Force built a case over the past 10 months that led to the arrest of convicted sexual offender, Paul Alexander, 57, who lured girls as young as 12 into prostitution to sell them to anonymous sex buyers.

Harvey Weinstein was sentenced on March 11 to 23 years in prison. “With this conviction, the more than 80 women who have come forward to describe sexual harassment, groping, coercion and sexual assault, can find relief that the extensive predation by Harvey Weinstein has come to an end,” said Sonia Ossorio, president of the National Organization for Women in New York State.

Gloria Steinem joined the rally at City Hall after a bombshell report in the New York Times last month detailed how many NYPD detectives allegedly dismissed and New York University student’s claim of rape.

“This story symbolizes the fact that something is terribly lacking with the NYPD's Special Victims Division,” said Steinem.
