It’s clear: Kavanaugh fails scrutiny for a lifetime appointment to Supreme Court

STATEMENT OF NATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR WOMEN – NEW YORK

September 26, 2018 —  A third woman, Julie Swetnick, has come forward with allegations of sexual assault and misconduct by Brett Kavanaugh. In her sworn affidavit, she describes Kavanaugh engaging in the targeting of women at parties with drugs and alcohol to facilitate rape.

This is beyond partisan politics. Our U.S. Senate must immediately stop any confirmation vote from going forward in light of this series of serious and corroborated allegations. It has become clear that Brett Kavanaugh’s record cannot withstand the scrutiny necessary to earn a lifetime appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court. A full investigation into these allegations must be conducted, and the White House should withdraw the nomination immediately.
